Do you dream of becoming a TEDx speaker? Are you ready to create your own signature talk? If so, you’re going to love today’s interview! In this episode of the IHML Show, we’re talking with Tricia Brouk, award-winning director, writer, filmmaker and the executive producer of TEDx Lincoln Square. In addition to her work in the entertainment industry, she applies her knowledge and expertise to the art of public speaking. Tricia recently directed and produced a documentary short called, “This Dinner Is Full,” which was the official selection at the New York Women in Film and Television Short Festival. She also hosts “The Big Talk,” a podcast on iTunes where she interviews incredible people who speak for a living.

As a former professional dancer and actor turned writer, producer and director, Tricia is no stranger to the stage. But it wasn’t until she helped a friend prepare for a TEDx Talk that Tricia realized she could also help speakers share their message on stage. She is an expert at capturing the essence of someone’s message and is on a mission to help influencers create their “big talk” so they can make a BIG impact. So if you’re ready to move forward with speaking in your business, today’s episode will give you tangible and powerful steps to take. Tricia will inspire you to release perfection, move past your fears and share your gifts with the world.

During this episode, we’re going to cover…

  • How she transitioned from the entertainment industry to helping speakers create their “big talk”
  • The important differences between a keynote speech and a TED Talk
  • The incredible method she uses to dive into the heart of a speaker’s message
  • The best tips for structuring your big talk (what you should and should NOT include)
  • Tricia’s step-by-step process to overcome stage fright
  • How you can put yourself out there and start gaining speaking experience, right now

One of my favorite quotes from this episode is this:

“I am extremely determined. I think outside of the box. I’m not afraid to fail and I think that’s one of my biggest, one of my best qualities is if I don’t know how to do something I’ll still try and just ask people along the way. I don’t wait until I have all the answers ever. I just dive straight in and figure it out as I go along.” – Tricia Brouk

MEET EMILY

FOUNDER & CEO

I started I Heart My Life from my kitchen table in a tiny London apartment in 2013.

After going through a 5-year quarter-life crisis, I discovered the world of personal development and the power of a gratitude journal and finally got clear on my true purpose in life: to help women fall in love with themselves and their lives. I Heart My Life has gone through many transformations over the years, but its mission has always remained the same: we exist to teach you how to create a life that you love.
