Does taking time off from your business send your anxiety into a frenzy? What if I told you that time away is one of the most important things that you can do for your life, your health, and your business? (Hint: It is!) Which is why I’m sharing how to prepare your business for the holidays.

“For those of us who work super hard in our business and we’re diligent about our passion and what it is that we’re doing in the world and we’re always showing up on behalf of our dreams but also supporting others. It’s really important that you do take that time for yourself.” -Emily Williams

The first thing you need to do is take stock of what it would look like for you to truly enjoy your holiday season. Would it be hanging out with friends and family? Reading? Blankets and hot cocoa by the fire with loved ones? A trip to go skiing? What’s the real desire?

No matter what it looks like, really visualize the best holiday you can and then think of how many days off you need to make that happen. If you need a few days to get into vacation mode before you can enjoy it, then build in some additional days. If you know that you’re going to want alone time to read or sit in silence or just feel refreshed, then build that in.

Once you’ve determined how many days off you need for your vacation, it’s time to take out your calendar and mark those days off. They’re non-negotiable. So, what do you have going on from a business perspective in Q4 and Q1? Do you have a launch to prepare for? Client work to figure out? What does your work schedule look like?

Then work on getting everything done in advance that you can. Take this podcast for example. I won’t be recording episodes and approving show notes while I’m on vacation. I’ll batch the work and everything will be set up and done far in advance of the vacation.

The last thing to consider (but not last in importance!) is your clients. But the good thing is, they’ll likely be looking to take time off as well. Just be sure to have conversations with them early on so that you manage their expectations and leave them fully supported, even when you’re offline.

Holidays and time off are insanely important for your health and the growth of your business. Don’t succumb to the need to just work through it. Take the time away and come back refreshed for 2021.

In this Episode:

[02:39] What would it look like for you to enjoy the holiday season?

[05:33] Next, decide how many days you want to take off.

[07:52] Why seeing the benefits of all of your hard work helps settle into vacation mode.

[10:50] What are your goals for the rest of the year and Q1 and then think about what that will take from a marketing perspective.

[14:36] How to set up your calendar for success.

[16:11] Ways to make sure your clients are supported but understand that time off is necessary.

[20:39] How do you want to feel at the start of the year?

If you’re truly ready to create a life better than your dreams, then it’s time to talk about the concept of visualization. What is visualization? It’s when you paint a picture in your mind of what you want your life to LOOK like, but also, focus on the other senses too to make it as […]

Have you felt for some time that you’re meant for something big, something better, deeper, or more meaningful than you have right now? And yet… are you unable to see with complete clarity what that would look like because you feel so disconnected from yourself and Source? Perhaps you long for a different life… to […]
