One of the questions I’m most frequently asked is how to manifest money.
Manifestation is a pretty hot topic right now, and has been since the popularization of Rhonda Byrne’s 2006 book and film, The Secret… but believe it or not, this isn’t a new concept. People have been philosophizing about working with the laws of the Universe to attract prosperity for years.
If we look back far enough, we can find the law of attraction being referred to in a range of ancient practices and Eastern teachings. Whilst, admittedly, it wasn’t called the law of attraction in the past, it’s pretty clear that humanity has had awareness of our ability to make what we visualize manifest from writings like:

The 19th century is when the contemporary New Thought movement came into play, and many authors started sharing what they understood about manifestation in books to help it enter the public consciousness, like Helena Blavatsky and Thomas Troward. But the early 20th century is when it really started to proliferate—in fact, one of my favorite manifestation books, The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles, was published during this time, as well as Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill!
Fast forward to now, you’ll find books on manifestation in almost every shop you pass, as well as Facebook and Instagram posts, podcast episodes and YouTube videos at every corner of the internet. But—despite all of the information that’s readily available, not everyone is able to get the law of attraction to work…
…which is why I’ve put together this blog post sharing my 3 top tips for manifesting money in 2022, as it’s these very techniques that most people miss.
Whether you’re looking to generate more revenue in your business, increase your income at work or even access abundance through another, more unexpected means, like through an investment you’ve forgotten you’d paid or winning a prize from a competition you’ve entered you’ll benefit enormously from what I share.
Before we fully immerse ourselves in that, though, let’s first dive into the basics as it’s important you get those down too, and we want to ensure we’re on the same page.
How most people manifest money…
Most people argue (including the well-respected self-help expert Jack Canfield) that to activate the potent power of the law of attraction, all you have to do is follow a simple, 3-step process: ask, believe, receive.
Step 1: Ask the universe for what you want
Each and every day you send out requests to the universe, Jack Canfield argues, consciously or otherwise. Everything you think about, talk about, read about, write about etc. is you communicating with your higher power… is you telling the universe what you want to attract more of into your life.
You might have heard Tony Robbins say that ‘where energy flows attention goes’ and I don’t disagree. The more you focus on something, the more it makes manifest, for good or for bad, so be sure to pay more mind to what you do want (like your desire to make money and what your newfound financial freedom will afford you) than what you don’t, like not being paid enough, being in debt, or not having any savings).
Step 2: Believe you’ll get what you want
The next step is to actually believe you’ll receive, and this is where the mindset work comes in. If you think about what you want all the time, but deep down in your heart of hearts don’t feel you’ll ever achieve those goals or fulfill those desires, then you will end up sending out mixed signals to the universe and get back all sorts of different results.
If you have beliefs that are limiting you, like you’re not worthy or you’re not capable, it’s time to bust through those blocks as they are standing in the way of your success. Equally, if you have fears to conquer, about failing or succeeding, for example, you should pay attention to those things, too.
Step 3: Receive what you want
The next step, Jack Canfield explains, is to become a vibrational match of whatever you want to attract into your life. As spiritual beings in human bodies, we carry energy that can be positively or negatively charged… and guess what? Like attracts like!
If you’re trying to manifest abundance, but are feeling not good enough or less than, you’re in the energy of scarcity and lack which is the exact opposite of what you want and therefore going to repel it. You, therefore, need to make efforts to raise your vibrational frequency on the daily.
But… whilst I do indeed use and advocate this process, in my opinion, doing those 3 things alone is not enough—which brings me to the next section of this blog post, Lovely…
How I manifest money
Personally, I like to reinforce the process by working with some other ‘mini-laws’ of attraction… a few of which I’ll be sharing below. Let’s get it!
1. The law of right action (or conscientious action)
Shall I tell you what speaks louder than words (and therefore thoughts)? Actions… which is why it’s so surprising that it’s the one thing people always forget about the law of attraction.
Whilst it’s true, you DO have the power to change your reality by changing your thoughts, it’s not enough to simply speak your desires into existence—you’ve got to ACT on them, too. Yes, even when they feel further away than ever.
Easier said than done? Maybe, seeing as our actions are often based on the way we’re feeling—and our moods have a tendency to fluctuate (sometimes for no apparent reason).
So… how can you train your brain to stay the course and keep your vibration high, even when nothing is working the way you’d hoped it would and all you want to do is throw in the towel?
What can you do to dig yourself out of your pit of despair and desperation, and keep on pursuing your purpose? How can you stop stacking up the problems, blaming everyone and everything around you, and defaulting to anxiety and overwhelm?
Well, you can start by getting some support. That’s what I did. I lacked so much purpose in my early twenties that I moved across the pond from Ohio to London where I thought I’d figure out what I wanted to do with my life. But the truth is, my quarter-life crisis followed me across the pond—I was really unhappy. I didn’t know how to make friends, I was single, I was working as a nanny, and I realized I needed someone to help me be happy. Happy is something we all think we should naturally be, but actually, we all have a lot going on and most of us have to set the intention and make the effort to generate happiness… and that’s not something I knew how to do. I know that seems strange coming from someone who owns a company called I Heart My Life, but it’s true.
So, I actually sought support from something called The Happiness Centre which was my first experience of the coaching world. The investment was a fortune to me at the time to buy these coaching sessions (I think I bought a package of six)… and session after session as I worked with this coach called Alexis I would share. She was always incredibly patient with me, she listened intently and let me say what I needed to, but on this ONE occasion she interrupted me as I was going through my whole loop of what wasn’t working, why I was so unhappy and so on and so forth and she said, “Emily—did you know you have the power to control your thoughts?”
At this point, I had gone through four years of psychology classes at undergrad, at one point I wanted to be a counsellor and marital/family therapist, but I hadn’t heard it put that way before so it really landed. I recognized at that moment that I didn’t have to allow this loop to keep playing out over and over and over; I could stop and change how I felt at any time.
Alexis supported me with controlling my thoughts so I had a better handle on my emotions and could take action, and since then I’ve become obsessed with continually expanding my knowledge so I can teach others to do the same.
Since then, I’ve learned that the one question you need to shift your mindset and raise your vibration is: ‘How would I be showing up if everything was working out as I wanted it to?’
People usually respond with something like ‘I would be happy, so I’d have more energy, I’d be more motivated, I’d go to this yoga class or that networking event, I’d take time off to relax as I’d know that everything is on its way, that everything’s happening for me’, etc.
And that’s what I would tell them to do.
Because the thing is, you can decide everything IS going according to plan. And act as if it were. The choice is yours to make, Lovely, and your actions could be the difference between being in a good enough energy to make the money you want… or not.

2. The law of pure desire (or unwavering desire)
When you’re feeling like the law of attraction just isn’t working out for you, I’d also recommend revisiting what it actually is that you desire. The law of unwavering desire means you’re guided by pure intention, meaning if you want to make something manifest, you have to actually want it.
Have you ever set out to accomplish something, only to find that upon completion of the goal that it doesn’t bring about the elation you thought it would? Ever had an idea in your head of the areas in which you need to achieve in order to be considered successful, only to find that when you attain these things for yourself, it doesn’t feel as good on the inside as it looked on the outside?
Goals and desires are two very different things, and oftentimes they don’t work in harmony together. Learning to discern the difference will help you live a more fulfilling existence, and could potentially save you from going down the wrong path.
In my opinion, there’s no one better to speak on this than MD and Coach Alexandra Stockwell, whose energy and enthusiasm for life should be an inspiration to us all, which is why I’ve interviewed her here if you want to have a listen. I’m sure this podcast episode will support you in understanding what you really, truly, purely desire. One of the most helpful pieces of advice she gives is about how we can use others as a mirror.
When a true desire doesn’t manifest it strikes an emotional chord. When we see others achieving what we want to, like writing a book, for example, that may or may not be a high earner, and we feel sick to our stomach because we know deep down in the pit of it that’s we’ve let ourselves down as all we’ve really wanted from being a 9-year-old little girl is to be a writer… you know it’s a true desire.
But equally, when we see others achieving something like this and it ignites a fire in our belly because we’re so passionate about the thought of chasing that dream down—that similarly strikes an emotional chord but in a more positive way. That’s similarly a true desire.
With practice, you won’t even need to look to others’ achievements. You’ll be able to tap into those gut feelings proactively.

And then obviously met my husband James a year later online. And, it’s so powerful and we have this internal GPS and yet, so many of us are not listening. We’re not paying attention or we’re ignoring and pushing it away.– Emily Williams
3. The law of paradoxical intent (or delicate balance)
Thirdly, we need to focus on finding balance, because when we do so we release the high-frequency vibrational energy that the LOA requires to work. We live in a universe of opposites, day/night, summer/winter, male/female, yin/yang… but balance is not found in the stark contrast, but in the appreciation in one pole for the other. To live an abundant life, you must shift your mindset to believe you already live one. You must show your gratitude for all you already have, to attract that which you don’t.
Given that we’re in November, it’s safe to say it’s the season to be grateful—but, honestly, gratitude deserves a special place in your heart and mind every. single. day. I continue to be blown away by the power of adopting a more grateful mindset. Gratitude has changed my life in so many ways (including leading me to create I Heart My Life) and it can do the same for you.
Gratitude follows the Law of Attraction. The more we acknowledge the positive influences in our lives, the more good we will attract. No joke, I landed my dream job and my dream guy after shifting into a more grateful mindset. Here’s how it works: Once you start paying attention to the good things you have in front of you, the more awareness you’ll have for the possibilities before you… so be sure to make it a regular ritual/routine e.g. by gratitude journaling (where you list out 10+ things you’re thankful for) each and every morning as you sip on your frothy coffee.
