Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything right but still feel completely out of balance?
You’re not alone. And here’s why that might actually be a good thing.
The Real Reason Life Feels “Off” Sometimes
The other day, I shared a short, raw video from my sauna after a chaotic day. No script, no filter—just me reflecting on a season where everything felt like a lot.
It resonated deeply with so many women. Because we’re all navigating moments that don’t feel “balanced”… but are exactly what we need to grow.
What If Imbalance Isn’t a Problem?
We all strive for lives that are full and multifaceted—careers, families, passions, health, love.
But what about those seasons where one thing takes over?
- Maybe you just had a baby and your focus is on keeping them alive, not balancing your inbox.
- Maybe you’re newly in love and blissfully immersed in that connection.
- Maybe your business is going through a major growth spurt and your creativity is peaking.
Do those moments mean you’re off-track? Not at all.
The Balance Inside the Chaos
Recently, I found myself working late nights, pulling back from social media, and relying on my husband for extra support.
At first, I felt guilty. Until I remembered a quote from Eat, Pray, Love:
“To lose balance sometimes for love is part of living a balanced life.”
– Elizabeth Gilbert
Sometimes, devotion—whether to your family, your dream, or your creativity—asks you to go all in.
And that doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re living.
Your “Going Dark” Season
One of my favorite comments on that video said this:
“In our creative house we get really tunneled and obsessed and out of balance when starting new things and we label this period as “going dark” as a playful way to mark the period but also as a heads up to everyone else that that person is essentially “offline” for all normal daily matters and that they also will require some extra tlc for things like food and water essentials via service
Isn’t that brilliant?
What if you renamed your current stretch of overwhelm as a sacred phase?
“Going dark.”
“Expansion era.”
“Creative devotion.”
When you name it, you normalize it. And that changes everything.
How to Honor Your “Imbalance” Season
If you’re in the middle of one of these messy, beautiful chapters, here’s how to support yourself:
1. Name the season.
Give it language. Give it meaning. Stop trying to hide or minimize it.
2. Communicate your needs.
Tell your partner, team, or loved ones what’s going on—and what you need.
3. Trust the process.
This season won’t last forever. But don’t rush it. Let it teach you.
Final Reflection: What If This Is Exactly Where You’re Meant to Be?
You’re not broken.
You’re not off-track.
You’re not failing at balance.
You’re becoming.
Let go of the guilt.
Stop making yourself wrong.
And trust that this season is sacred—even if it’s intense.
Reflection Prompt:
- What would change if I stopped making myself wrong for the season I’m in?
- What support would help me feel safer in this chapter?
- How can I honor the devotion I’m feeling right now?
P.S.
